The Faneyåkan Sinipok is a CHamoru immersion program that utilizes the CHamoru language as the medium of instruction in all content areas throughout the school day. It aims to develop fluent and proficient generations in all academic subjects of the CHamoru language.
Faneyåkan Sinipok is located at PC Lujan Elementary School in Barrigada, and program hours run from 8:30 a.m. to 2:43 p.m.
PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS:
- Children must be five years old by July 31, 2024.
- Parents or guardians must provide transportation to and from school. (Families within the school district of P.C. Lujan Elementary School may take the school bus.)
- Participating families must agree to the commitment requirements such as:
• CHamoru language speaking skills are preferred but not required.
• Active and consistent participation in the program
• Parents and family members must take CHamoru immersion classes
• Provide eight hours of in-kind service
All eligible applicants will be interviewed to discuss program requirements and commitments.
