Teacher Certification Law Gets Rules and Regulations Approved Certification for Child Adequate Public Education Act Requirements More Defined |
|
(Hagåtña, Guam) The Every Child is Entitled to an Adequate Public Education Act got a helping hand Friday afternoon when Governor Felix P. Camacho signed Bill 195 into law. In his Adelup chambers, Governor Camacho made Bill 195 official with his signature to create Public Law 28-75, “An act to approve the administrative rules and regulations for the ‘educator recertification’ program.” Governor Camacho was pleased and gave note that “The better educated our teachers are the better off our kids will be.” Superintendent Juan Flores was thankful and appreciative of the legislation and spoke of future efforts and continued support for the teaching profession. Superintendent Flores said, “Even though one of the reasons that teachers who take courses have to be certified, I think our teachers become better and our teachers serve our kids better, because they take more courses. If we can continue to support that (teachers taking courses) in a sense, another example of putting our money where our mouth is; I think we’re doing a great job for our thirty-thousand kids in our public schools.” A great feature to PL28-75 is that through the approved rules and guidelines, it sets the structure for certification and recertification through funding and course outlines. A teacher is assisted through the Antonio Yamashita Educator Corps via funding. The guidelines help teachers select courses required for a career in education curriculum and subject discipline.
