Gates Millennium Scholarship Program to be Addressed at Luncheon

Outreach Coordinator to Meet School Officials

(Hagåtña, Guam) Ms. Bindi Patel, Outreach Coordinator for the Gates Millennium Scholars Program will be addressing school administrators, counselors, and student advisors at a luncheon meeting this Wednesday, November 16, 2005 at the Esmeralda Restaurant in Tamuning from 12:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Please RSVP Dr. Josephine Caluag, Administrator, GPSS Student Support Services at 475 0504/0509.

Ms. Patel is coming to Guam to give information sessions regarding the grant scholarships from the Bill * Melinda Gates Foundation, established in 1999 to provide outstanding Asian Pacific Islander Americans, African American, American Indian/ Alaska native and Hispanic American students with an opportunity to study at a U.S. accredited college or university in any discipline.

All GPSS high school students in the eleventh and twelfth grades are encouraged to attend the session on Wednesday, November 16, 2005 from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at JFK High School, to learn more about the Program. Students should see their guidance counselor for more details on the criteria for eligibility. All potential scholars should be accompanied by his or her guidance counselor or NJHS advisor.
