Viewers & Supporters Join Together to Adopt Because We Care

(Hagåtña, Guam) Spearheaded by the Guam Hotel & Restaurant Association, First Lady Joann Camacho’s HOPE Foundation, media outlets, and corporate sponsorship, Project ABC “Adopting Because we Care” was again a success since it first aired one year ago.

The six-hour telethon hosted by Miss Guam Tourism 2004, Russchel Seballos and Miss Guam Tourism 2005 Natasha Afaisen on Monday night appealed to island residents watching KUAM TV8 to call in and support Guam’s Public School System as it prepares for the new school year.

“As a teacher we understand the need for better maintained facilities and community supprt to improve our public schools.” said Afaisen who teaches at Inarajan Middle School. A teacher at Carbullido Elementary School Seballos said “It takes a community to educate a child and that is why we are here.”

“I would like to thank the people of Guam for their support to Project ABC, and our sponsors who gave graciously this year.” said First Lady Camacho. She also added that “There’s still an opportunity to contribute to Project ABC.” Through First Lady Joann Camacho’s HOPE Foundation last year much needed repairs and equipment have been purchased to assist Guam’s Public Schools.

GHRA President David Tydingco said “We appreciate all the support that the community has shown throughout these past two years and that you can count on us remaining vigilant in helping our public school children.”
