2005 Leadership Academy Set for This Week |
|
(Hagåtña, Guam) The Guam Public School System will begin its summer session of the 2005 Leadership Academy for School Administrators. A Pre-Academy version will start Monday, July 18, 2005 at Tamuning Elementary School for those aspiring to become administrators, and those just beginning a career in School leadership. The 2005 Leadership Academy will host all principals, assistant principals, and central office administrators beginning on Wednesday, July 20, 2005 at the Westin Resort Guam in Tumon. The five-day Academy will break for the Liberation Day holiday and resume Friday, July 22, 2005 and then continue next week on July 25, 26, and 27. This year’s theme “Sustaining Our Profession, Building for Tomorrow” will help participants focus back on the Interstate School Leaders Licensure Consortium’s Standards for School Leaders, including the standards and associated indicators. These six standards and indicators provide the overall framework for professional development. The Leadership Academy is the product of the challenge to develop a district comprehensive and continuous Professional Development Model for School leaders that is based on measurable performance standards. The No Child Left Behind Act demands today’s administrators and school leaders be exceptional instructional leaders who guide staff, students, parents and the community in a common quest for increased student achievement, and also be responsive organizational managers who ensure a safe and conducive learning environment. |
