GWHS Looking for Student Candidates for Pilot Program |
|
(Hagåtña, Guam) The administration of George Washington High School (GWHS) will be hosting a meeting at 6:00 p.m., Thursday, July 14, 2005 in the school’s library. School officials wish to share the good news on a pilot program that will begin this school year. GWHS is looking for student candidates who are interested in the Business Academy of Communication Technology. Parents and students are urged to attend Thursday’s meeting to get more information and determine if these student candidates are interested in the Business - Technology College path and ready for a four-year commitment. The Guam Public School System and Guam Community College have joined together to develop a new career academy for students of GWHS as a result of a planning grant from the “No Child Left Behind” Act in support of Small Learning Communities. The small learning community (SLC) academy concept has been used successfully for many years with hundreds now established throughout the states. Developing this career focused academy, GCC and the Public School System will be conducting direct surveys of area resources in industry, business, and leadership. The specialized area of career focus for the academy will be determined by the results of the survey. For more information, call GWHS officials at 734-2212/2011/ 2911. |
