(Hagåtña, Guam) The Guam Public School System is pleased to announce that 95% of the Secondary Math textbook orders for the upcoming school year have arrived and are being processed for distribution to the schools. All orders for Elementary Math textbooks have arrived as well. These orders were adopted back on March 9, 2005. The remaining textbooks will arrive in two weeks to complete the order for School Year 2005-2006. School Readiness for the coming school year also means professional development with general school aides and substitute teachers from all districts undergoing training. Areas of training include Anger Management, Conflict Resolution, and Discipline Procedures. Workshops are also being planned in areas such as Strategies/Interventions in Handling Student Discipline. The Division of Special Education is planning a conference tentatively scheduled for the first week of August 2005. One-to-One School Aide training will focus on workshops designed to address Disability Awareness, Managing Stress, the Individual Education Plan, and Behavior Management for Para educators.
