Superintendent Addresses Concerns with School Aides

(Hagåtña, Guam) Recent alleged incidents regarding school aides have been addressed by Superintendent Juan Flores in several meetings around the island. Meeting at several schools this week, Superintendent Flores has assured that not all school aides behave in manners other than professional and they should be vigilant in their work.

“We know as a system, throughout the schools that school aides take care of special needs students beyond what is required of them…feeding them out of their pockets sometimes, changing their clothes, helping these students with problems outside of the school.” said Superintendent Flores.

Superintendent Flores reminded school aides to be supportive of each other, and asked them to be mindful of their tasks at school noting the pressures and difficulties of tending to special needs students.
