Guam Teacher of the Year Finalists Selected

(Hagåtña, Guam) Six finalists competing in The 2005 Guam Teacher of the Year Program have been selected. A five member panel of judges will hopefully select the winner who will represent Guam at the National Teacher of the Year Conference in 2006.

The Guam Teacher of the Year Program recognizes the outstanding contributions and educational efforts of the D.O.E. classroom teachers across the island. The six finalists are:

John F. Kennedy High School

Bertha Perez
J.Q. San Miguel Elementary

Antoinette Marie Cruz
L.P. Untalan Middle School

Gina Wusstig
D.L. Perez Elementary

Ron Canos
Simon Sanchez High School

J. Randolph Coffman
Finegayan Elementary School

The Guam Teacher of the Year Program is part of the National Teacher of the Year Program, the nation’s oldest and most honored program that focuses public attention on excellence in teaching. The teacher selected will also be eligible to compete in the National Teacher of the Year Program following the Guam competition.
