Guam Teacher of the Year Program Looking For Candidates

(Hagåtña, Guam) The selection process has begun to solicit applicants for the 2005 Guam Teacher of the Year. Superintendent Juan Flores has officially opened the program to seek out the island’s best public school teacher. The Guam Teacher of the Year Program recognizes the outstanding contributions and educational efforts of the D.O.E. classroom teachers across the island.

Formal applications will be made available at all public schools and the Superintendent’s office in Hagåtña. The application packet includes some sections from the National Teacher of the Year application. Applicants must meet specific eligibility requirements.

The Guam Teacher of the Year Program is part of the National Teacher of the Year Program, the nation’s oldest and most honored program that focuses public attention on excellence in teaching. The teacher selected will also be eligible to compete in the National Teacher of the Year Program following the Guam competition.
