Two Schools Vandalized Over Easter Weekend |
|
(Hagåtña, Guam) Two elementary schools were vandalized over the Easter weekend. When school personnel arrived this morning to begin work at Merizo Elementary, they noticed the front gate was unlocked and opened this morning at around 7:00. They saw that the main gate sustained severe damage. The gate appeared to have been rammed by a vehicle. Witnesses near the campus told school officials that a grey pick up truck was sighted in the area at the time of the break in. Guam Police officers were dispatched to the scene this morning, with Crime lab personnel arriving later to conduct an investigation. School officials are making assessments to school property to determine if other parts of the campus sustained other damage. Marcial Sablan Elementary in Agat also suffered from a weekend break in when vandals forced their way into classrooms. Seven classrooms were broken into when vandals gained access by breaking plexi-glass windows. It appeared this morning that nothing was stolen. Guam Police officials were dispatched to the scene and began an investigation. If anyone has information regarding these cases, you are asked to contact the Guam Police at 472- 8911 or call the Guam CrimeStoppers Hotline at 477-HELP. |
