First Annual Guidance Counselors Conference Starts Monday |
|
(Hagåtña, Guam) Guam’s school counselors both public school and private will be gathering at the Hilton Resort and Spa this week for the First Annual Guam School Guidance Counselor’s Conference. The Guam Association of School Counselors (GASC) has led the way in preparation of the five day event and hopes to garner more support and participation as it faces many professional issues such as Roles and Responsibilities, Counselor Training, and Research and Evaluation of Counseling Programs. The Conference starts Monday morning at 7:00 over at the Hilton Resort & Spa with registration and fellowship. Superintendent Juan P. Flores will deliver welcoming remarks at 7:45 a.m. Rhonda Williams, Ed.D. Assistant Professor, University of Colorado will be presenting and training. This year’s Conference will include workshops that will focus on a presentation of the American School Counselors Association (ASCA) National Model and its application to Guam’s schools. Many guest speakers will be addressing the body including Senators Larry Kasperbauer, and Judy Won Pat, and GEPB Board members, Chairman Jose Cruz, PhD. and Sedfrey Linsangan. The elementary level workshops will be held on Monday and Wednesday with the secondary level workshops on Tuesday and Thursday. An afternoon session on Friday followed by dinner and a message from Governor Felix P.Camacho will conclude the event.
