Luis S. N.  Reyes,  Superintendent

My name is Luis S.N. Reyes,  Superintendent of the Guam Public School System on the beautiful island of Guam. The Guam Public School System is a single unified school district consisting of grades Kindergarten through 12. With twenty-five (25) elementary schools, seven (7) middle schools, four (4) high schools and an alternative school located throughout the island, the Guam Public School serves over 31,000 students each year. My goal as Interim Superintendent is to make positive changes within GPSS that will provide and create the best educational programs for our students leading them to a brighter future.

Our vision is to prepare all students for life, promote excellence, and provide support through our educational system. As teachers, administrators, parents and other stakeholders, the Guam Public School System understands the challenges presented to it each day and holds itself accountable for improving student achievement prudently managing revenues and resources.

As one of many steps in improving accountability to our stakeholders, we have established this website as an informational tool and resource to keep you up to date. The website contains various news information, facts, and reports such as the Annual State of Public Education Report, mandated by Guam Public Law 26-26. Within the website, you will also find the “Superintendent’s Update” which will be updated regularly to provide an agency-wide perspective on important developments within the Guam Public School System. Our goal is to increase communication throughout the island regarding important initiatives for Guam’s public school students. You will also find links to press releases that contain timely information relative to the Guam Public School System.

I invite and encourage the public to make a difference in our educational system and throughout the island by attending the Guam Education Policy Board meetings. These meetings are held to allow the public to voice their concerns and ideas and to see how positive changes are made and developed in the Guam Public School System. The Guam Education Policy Board meets every second and fourth Wednesday of the month at 6:00 p.m. usually in the Guam Public School System conference room, located below the Superintendent's office in Hagåtña.

Thank you and Si Yu’os Ma’ase.                                                    (UPDATED 19Sept2006)
