Direct Instruction (DI) Program

The Direct Instruction (DI) Program, is a nationally acclaimed research-based program adopted by the district to improve its reading,  math , and language arts skills as determined by SAT 9 test results in FY 2003.  The program aims to teach children increasingly complex skills and strategies by breaking them down into small component skills.  Each skill is practiced until mastered.    Assessments and data collection are done at regular intervals which assist in reviewing student progress, spotting problems, developing remedies and follow-up activities.  The program was recently lauded and awarded as the MagHOPE “Program of the Year” in 2006.
