Guam Public School System PRAXIS 1 TEST INFORMATION |

One of the requirements for Teacher Certification is taking and passing the PRAXIS 1 TEST. The Praxis Series, or Professional Assessments for Beginning Teachers® is developed and administered by the Educational Testing Service (ETS). The PRAXIS 1 consists of the following: Academic Skills Assessments including the Pre-Professional Skills Tests (PPST®) and the Computerized Pre-Professional Skills Tests (CPPST), which measure basic proficiency in reading, writing and mathematics. Effective September 2002, Guam Board of Education Professional Certification Policy 1000.137, Articulation and Fluency in English..., states All individuals applying for a Guam public school teaching certificate shall, as a requirement for initial certification, pass both oral and written examination in speaking, reading and writing of English. This examination shall be known as the "Language Proficiency Test".
