PRAXIS 1 TEST INFORMATION

One of the requirements for Teacher Certification is taking and passing the PRAXIS 1 TEST. The Praxis Series, or Professional Assessments for Beginning Teachers® is developed and administered by the Educational Testing Service (ETS).

The PRAXIS 1 consists of the following: Academic Skills Assessments including the Pre-Professional Skills Tests (PPST®) and the Computerized Pre-Professional Skills Tests (CPPST), which measure basic proficiency in reading, writing and mathematics.

Effective September 2002, Guam Board of Education Professional Certification Policy 1000.137, Articulation and Fluency in English..., states All individuals applying for a Guam public school teaching certificate shall, as a requirement for initial certification, pass both oral and written examination in speaking, reading and writing of English. This examination shall be known as the "Language Proficiency Test".

You are allowed to take the exam six (6) times a year. You can re-register thirty (30) days after taking the exam.

Results are available about 4 to 6 weeks after taking the exam.

Costs of examination (may be subject to change):

$125 for combined test

$75 for each subject

The following are considered to be passing scores:
 

Three (3) part test

173 or higher

170 or higher

170 or higher
