Guam Public School System Fifth Grade Mathematics

MATHEMATICS

Grade 5 Standards

Fifth grade students are encouraged to prepare for the more self-directed, independent environment of middle school. By the end of fifth grade, students increase their use of the four basic arithmetic operations as they are applied to numerical situations. They know and use common measuring units, solve problems involving length, area, and volume. Students know the concept of angle measurement and use specific tools of mathematics in solving problems. They use grids, tables, graphs, and charts to record and analyze data.
